Due to an exciting period of growth we are looking to grow our upholstery team with an experienced upholsterer and furniture maker to assist the upholstery department and join our small friendly team and busy workroom at Bullhouse Mill, near Penistone.

Responsible for

Assisting with the running the of the in house upholstery department taking instruction from the business owners to complete all aspects of re upholstery and bespoke furniture work, ensuring that all work is carried out to the high standards required of the business.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Completing all modern, traditional and deep buttoned upholstery including striping, repairing and reupholstering all furniture to meet customer deadlines and workload

  • Stock taking all upholstery supplies and instructing the owners of any items and equipment that needs ordering to meet customer deadlines  

  • Cutting and planning fabric for all upholstery jobs

  • Manufacturing bespoke furniture including headboards, chairs, sofas, commercial seating and footstools  working with photos and sketches to prototype. Manufacturing furniture to the customers exact requirements including building or sourcing furniture frames to padding and upholstering in fabric or leather

  • Assisting the business owner to develop their own range of upholstered furniture

  • Ensuring all work complies with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire Safety) Regulations 1988/1989, 1993 and 2010 and working within the framework of any new legislation

  • Planning all work, advising the owner on all fabrics quantities and labour costs

  • Pricing individual projects and working to pre defined timescales to ensure jobs are profitable

  • Complete contract upholstery work in the workroom and on site if required

  • Working on your own initiative under pressure to meet production demands and deadlines

  • Collecting, delivering and installing upholstered furniture from / to customers premises in a professional and courteous manner

  • Keeping your workspace tidy at all times and adhering to the company’s health and safety standards. Ensuring that all equipment is operated safely and maintained correctly
